What is parenting education?
Parenting education is simply a group of parents talking with each other and a trained educator, about parenting, childhood development, and topics such as: Dealing with Anger, Raising Emotionally Intelligent Children, How to Help Children Problem Solve, Choosing Discipline Tools and Understanding Children’s Behaviors, Exploring Safety for Children without Fear, and many more.
If I go to a parenting education class, does that mean I am parenting the wrong way?
Absolutely NOT! There is NO "right way" to parent. Attending a parenting education class is just another way to learn about children, why they do the things they do, while exploring different ways to respond to children’s behaviors. There are lots of different ways to choices we can make as parents, and a parenting educator helps parents become mindful of the effects of those choices.
Who should go to a parenting education class?
Anyone with a child between the ages of birth and 18 yrs can attend a class. There are many reasons to take a class-some people come to get ideas for managing kid's behaviors, some come to make connections with other parents, and many come just to hear that other parents experience the same difficulties that they do!
